Financial education important to teachers in Middle East

I ran across an article last week about a poll of teachers Visa did in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).  From the article:

An overwhelming number of education professionals polled in the UAE believe that basic financial literacy skills are essential for young people today and would like to see the fundamentals of money management taught in schools”

Why is this important to us in the U.S.? If you remember, the UAE are going through a pretty serious financial crisis of their own. It’s sometimes easy to lose sight that basic money management concepts of saving, credit and debt are pretty universal and that everyone needs and deserves basic financial education training.

In case you were wondering, Visa isn’t only concerned about their customers in the UAE, they do have a Web site up for Americans looking for some financial education as well.
