Managing Your Finances Separately as a Married Couple: Is it a Marriage-Saving Money Miracle or Sheer Money Madness?

There are two schools of thought when it comes to marriage and finances.

A growing number of people are choosing to keep their finances separate, so they can manage their money their way and don’t have to be impacted by their spouse’s financial decisions.

Others think that this defeats the whole purpose of marriage– the joining of two people into a lifetime union.  Plus, they argue that its more expensive to have a “his” and “hers” mentality because you end up missing opportunities to share expenses.

What are your thoughts?

I don’t why only 20% think its a miracle– finances are the #1 cause of divorce. For God’s sake, keep them separate!
